The
Public Housing program to provide decent housing for poor Americans was originally
developed more than a half century ago and is primarily funded by the federal Department
of Housing and Urban Development.
Families who want to rent will pay 30% of their total adjusted monthly Income or pay a
Flat Rent fee based on the Fair Market Rent as estab- lished by the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD)Or, anybody that
wants to live in Public Housing who is NOT considered Low-Income, inquire within the
Housing Authority Office for more information.
Anyone living in low-income Public housing is required to
do 8 hours per month of Community services. All adult members over 18 years of age.
Every adult must sign a Community Service Compliance
Certification and those Exempt must sign an Exemption Certification. At each annual
re-certification, non-exempt family members must present a complete documentation form of
activities performed over the previouus 12 months. The family will will be allowed
to make up the 8 hours per month and if at the end of the next re-certification the family
is still not compliant, the Lease will not be renewed and the entire family will have to
vacate the Unit and or be evicted. |
